Für mich eine kleine Entdeckung: Diese Notizbücher, die mir bei MUJI in Frankfurt/Main aufgefallen sind.
Die in Japan gefertigten und sehr gut verarbeiteten Notizbücher sind 125 × 88 mm groß, fadengeheftet und haben 48 Seiten sowie einen festen Kartoneinband. Das glatte Papier ist nicht reinweiß, sondern ganz leicht gelblich getönt, was ich sehr angenehm finde; die Grammatur schätze ich auf 90 g/m².
Zum Größenvergleich: Ein STAEDTLER Mars Lumograph 100 B.
Die Notizbücher gibt es kariert (grün), blanko (rot) und mit Punkteraster (dunkelgrau). Ich hatte erwartet, noch ein liniertes mit blauem Einband zu finden, doch das wird offenbar nicht angeboten. – Erfreulicherweise ist das Etikett leicht und rückstandslos ablösbar.
Als einzigen Nachteil empfinde ich, dass das Papier nur eingeschränkt tintentauglich ist, denn es besteht die Gefahr des Durchschlagens. – Das Ausfasern ist erkennbar, aber gering.
Mit beidem kann ich jedoch leben, da ich diese Notizbücher vorwiegend mit Bleistift und nur für Vorübergehendes nutze, ja sogar zuweilen Seiten herausreiße (und zwar nicht nur zu Testzwecken wie hier).
Das empfehlenswerte MUJI-Notizbuch ist einzeln erhältlich und kostet 1,95 Euro.
Im Gegensatz zu den Notizbüchern finde ich die Seitenmarker von MUJI überhaupt nicht empfehlenswert.
Diese Dinger kleben so schlecht, dass sie schon beim Angucken abfallen.
A shame about the page-markers. I tend to stick to real Post-It brand sticky products because they’re the only ones I’ve found to be reliably sticky. You do pay quite a bit extra for them, though.
Glad to see you covering these passport notebooks — they’re my absolute favourite pocket notebooks. They can take a real beating in the back pocket of a pair of jeans or the bottom of a bag. I kept one in my back pocket for a fortnight in Budapest and it was still in good shape by the end; a little folded, but that just added character to it. They changed the cover material in the last couple of years and it’s not quite as nice looking any more, but they’re still just absolutely great.
You’re right – to me the best sticky notes are the original ones.
I’m happy to hear that you like these notebooks too! I didn’t know that they changed the cover. What was it like back then? To me they offer a great price-performance ratio, and their paper is much better than one may expect at this price. Some complain that the paper isn’t fountain pen friendly because there is some bleed-through with wider and wetter nibs (which doesn’t bother me since I prefer thin ones) but it is smooth and useful with almost all wiriting instruments.
